The image shows what happens when you culture contractile muscle onto a stiff surface. The myotubules rip themselves off the substrates. The researchers were attempting to understand if their fibrin platform couldbe substituted with a thin coat of gelatin, with the goal of creating a long-term platform for 2D muscle growth.
